*Moderator- Charla Triplett, President, BME Career Alliance
Charla Triplett earned a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Washington State University before receiving her master’s at Oregon State University. She has more than 15 years of experience working with scientists and engineers in the biomedical field, and has established a reputation in the career development area of biomedical engineering, with strong ties to academic institutions, professional societies, and the medical device and biotechnology industry. Triplett is president of the nonprofit Biomedical Engineering Career Alliance, which she founded in 2006. Prior to that, she was sole proprietor of a consulting company specializing in university/industry relations in the biomedical field. She has also served as program coordinator for the Bioengineering Internship Program at Arizona State University.
Lisa Waples, Consultant, SRS LLC
Lisa Waples is the founder of Strategic Recruitment Services. She has BS and MS degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science and Macromolecular Science and over 14 years of experience in academic/industry relations, program development, and academic marketing. Her expertise includes academic/industry relations, academic programs, marketing engineering and science programs, cooperative education and internship programs, continuing education and meeting planning. Prior to founding SRS she served as the Associate Chair and Director for Corporate Relations in Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University. Ms. Waples has served as an invited speaker on academic/industry partnerships, marketing, career development and networking. She has published several articles on biomaterials research and academic programs. Ms. Waples is a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, Society for Biomaterials, and Sigma Xi.
